Rocky Balboa : ''All I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood"
Rocky figured out that 'going the distance' has to mean something. There has to be a sense of purpose then just competing a task or going from point A to B.
Inspired, I'm running the Rocky Balboa Run on a freezing Philadelphia morning and I PICTURE THE FINISH. This is the moment where I'm going to sprint full on, throw my hands in the air for victory and feel elated! This keeps me going through the cold, racer angst, hills, miles and I think my feet are on fire.
I will have a BIG FINISH!
I'm not going to stumble to the finish, I want to rock it, celebrate it!
Because I know I did better in my time and standings then in previous runs.
And I will celebrate that I gave my best by putting my hands up in the air. In fact, that is a power pose which increases your confidence and that feeling sticks with you long after the race.
Because as Rocky figured out, 'going the distance' has to mean something.
When the end is clear, that will motivate you during the tough stretches.
